The 100th Exhibition of Model Railways of the MEC Pirna in Metz from 17 to 18 March 2007.

In March 2007 our club celebrated the 100th exhibition of model railways.
For the very first time we have been guests to an exhibition in our neighboring country France .
Jaques, a French friend of model railways, who we got to know at the „Eurospoor“ in Utrecht in 2006, invited us in a very friendly way to the „EXPOMODEL“ 2007 in Metz and we happily agreed.
On the 15th March 2007 at 4a.m. 6 of our club members started their trip to Metz .
After a trip without any problems we arrived Metz at about 3p.m.
After we had been successful with finding our accommodation, had had a break and some refreshments we went on an excursion to the newly built TGV trail Paris – Strasbourg.
With more than 400km/h the TGV train rushed past us. For Claus, our club member this was absolute craziness. And this was live! |
Some days later, on 3 April the TGV-POS No.4402 broke the world record of track vehicles at a speed of 574.8 km/h.
Even in Pirna, there is a TGV- model train on our TT-model. This train has been built in uncountable hours by our Wolfgang Eckert himself. Of course the German twin model train ICE runs on our large scale model as well.

While our elderly members enjoy the beautiful evening our youngest member Daniel (on the left) is taking a nap. :-) |
